3.5 magnitude earthquake rattles northern Orange County

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 struck the Orange County area, approximately a mile east of Fullerton, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake had a depth of about 6.6 miles, and the estimated intensity of the shaking was considered light. Just 20 minutes later, an aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 2.3 struck the same area, but no damage or injuries have been reported so far. The USGS anticipates that additional aftershocks may occur in the next several hours. Residents who experienced shaking can report their experiences on the USGS “Felt Report” online.
