2 Turning Point ‘bullies’ charged in assault of queer ASU professor

Two men from the right-wing organization Turning Point USA, Kalen Christian D’Almeida and Braden Robert Ellis, have been charged with assault and harassment following an incident involving a queer professor at Arizona State University. The incident occurred on National Coming Out Day, with the pair confronting the professor, David Boyles, with inflammatory questions. A video of the confrontation was posted on social media, showing Boyles reaching for the phone before the footage cuts out. Turning Point USA has faced criticism and a petition to ban them from campus. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office stated that, while it rarely prosecutes misdemeanors, it will handle this case since the incident occurred at a public university.
