2 Philadelphia police officers shot in Holmesburg; suspect also shot
Two Philadelphia police officers were shot in the early hours of Sunday in the Holmesburg area, with the suspect also receiving gunshot wounds. The officers, who are stable, were responding to a report of shots fired when they noticed a pickup truck fleeing the scene. The pursuit ended with the suspect’s pickup colliding with a patrol vehicle and the suspect shooting at the officers, who returned fire. This is the second incident in two months where Philadelphia police officers were shot. Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford remarked on the lack of respect for law enforcement, while the suspect, a 40-year-old man with several firearms offenses, is in critical condition.
