Officers Shot Responding to East Lansdowne Shooting, Resulting Fire Engulfs Home

Two police officers were injured in a shooting incident on Wednesday afternoon in East Lansdowne, Delaware County. They were responding to reports of a shooting inside a residential unit on Lewis Avenue, where an 11-year-old is said to have been shot.

Upon their arrival, an individual began shooting at the officers, leading to two of them getting injured before the suspect retreated into the home. Shortly after this incident, a fire started at the house.

The blaze escalated rapidly, with only one fire hose managing to combat it. Firefighters and other first responders were held back due to safety concerns. No additional shots were fired, but it is feared that the child and suspect may still be in the burning home.

The injured officers are associated with the Lansdowne and East Lansdowne Police Departments respectively. Raw footage from the scene showed one of the officers being evacuated and placed into an ambulance, while a SWAT vehicle was seen breaking down a wall of the home.

Both officers remained conscious and alert upon arrival at Penn Presbyterian Hospital. About 40 minutes later, flames could be seen erupting from the roof and windows of the affected home.

A local resident recounted the terrifying scene, describing rapid gunfire followed by police swarming the area and announcing an active shooter situation. Another neighbor revealed how SWAT team members assisted him in evacuating his home safely.
