A severe storm, suspected to be a tornado, swept through a Claremont neighborhood in Catawba County, North Carolina, causing one death and injuring four others, two of whom are in critical condition. The storm caused significant damage with some houses completely destroyed. One of the victims, a man in his 30s, died while attempting to protect his pregnant girlfriend. The National Weather Service will survey the area to determine if it was a tornado.
