US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed the US’s focus on long-term planning in regard to the war in Israel with HAMAS, including the post-war status of the Gaza Strip. Blinken said that various countries will have to make difficult decisions and commitments. He believes that Arab allies will need to help maintain security in Gaza during an interim period until the Palestinian National Administration is ready to take over, which is aimed at creating a state for the Palestinians. Blinken also mentioned the need to prevent further mass displacement of Palestinians, protect vital infrastructure such as hospitals and energy facilities, and allow evacuated Palestinians to return to northern Gaza after the war.
