A New Highlight at the Pennsylvania Farm Show: Mullet Contest

At the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, a new and exciting competition stole the limelight. The show, renowned for its agricultural exhibits, introduced its first Mullet Contest, aiming to crown the “Best in Grow”. Contestants from different categories presented their incredible mullets, offering a lighthearted twist to the annual show.

Competition Categories and Winners

Three distinct categories made up this unique competition: 18 and under (tagged “for all you youngins with style”), over 18 (“adults with business in the front, party in the back!”), and “throwback,” a category reserved for contestants with vintage mullet photos. Each category crowned a winner, but the grand “Best in Grow” prize was given to a standout contestant across all three categories.

Pete Brubaker: The “Best in Grow”

The star of the contest, Pete Brubaker, not only won the over 18 category but also took home the covetous “Best in Grow” award. His iconic silver curls mullet, untouched since 1985, impressed the judges, Brittany and Jason Goldberg of Heavy Metal Hair Salon in Philadelphia. Brubaker’s dedication to his style was evident when he declared to PennLive, “39 years, brother. Uncut since ’85!”

Young Contestant Makes a Mark

One young contestant who made a significant impression was 2-year-old Neil Finkenbinder. Sporting a mini mullet, blue plaid vest, and oversized sunglasses, Neil won the top prize in the 18 and under category. His mother, Amber, revealed that Neil has maintained his mullet look since his first birthday.
