Obituary for Scott Best (1967 – 2023) from West Deer Township, PA

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Scott M. Best, a respected resident of West Deer Township, at the age of 56. Scott fought a long, brave battle with numerous health issues before passing away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.

Scott was born on July 9, 1967, in Pittsburgh, to the late John N. “Jack” and Ruth A. (Antoszyk) Best. As a native of West Deer, he attended Deer Lakes High School, from where he graduated in 1985. Driven by a passion for technology, Scott subsequently enrolled at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a degree in computer science. However, his health issues prevented him from completing his degree.

Despite his health struggles, Scott led a fulfilling life filled with interests and hobbies. He was an ardent video game enthusiast, an avid sports watcher, and a regular tourist to Florida during winters. Scott also held a deep fascination for Civil War history and enjoyed touring Civil War battlefields.

The Best family extends heartfelt gratitude towards all the caregivers from Brightstar who took wonderful care of Scott and became part of his extended family. A special mention goes to his neighbour, Cheryl, for her unwavering support over the years, particularly after the loss of Scott’s parents.

Scott’s memory will be cherished by his brother, John N. (Cynthia) Best, and his niece, Lillian Best, both residents of Baden.

In line with Scott’s wishes, all services were held privately and he was laid to rest alongside his parents at the Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Township. The funeral arrangements were under the care of the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
