The eminent Business North Carolina magazine has recognized 18 leading attorneys from Smith Anderson in its 2024 Legal Elite List. This list, a testament to the expertise in various legal specialties, is elected based on the votes of attorney peers across the state.

Selection Process for BNC’s Legal Elite List

DataJoe Research, contracted by BNC, facilitated the online voting process and internet research. They targeted every member of the N.C. State Bar residing within North Carolina. The question asked to determine the most skilled attorneys was: Of the lawyers in North Carolina whose work you have witnessed firsthand, whom would you rank as the current best in these categories?

Recognition in the BNC Legal Elite Hall of Fame

Around 1,300 North Carolina lawyers received votes. Every year, attorneys with the highest votes in their categories join the BNC Legal Elite Hall of Fame. Smith Anderson Chair Gerald Roach entered the Business Hall of Fame in 2009. In comparison, Attorneys Steve Mason and Allen York were inducted into the Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2009 and 2020, respectively, and Pete Marino has been a member of the Construction Hall of Fame since 2011.
