Unfortunate Incident in Johnston County, North Carolina

In a tragic event in Johnston County, a 15-year-old is being held responsible for the death of his older brother. The incident took place on a Sunday evening at their residence situated north of Benson, a town in North Carolina.

A Friend Remembers the Victim

K.J. Brown, a close friend of the deceased Tracy Davis, is still struggling with the shocking news. Davis, an army veteran, leaves behind a young son. Brown and Davis were roommates and had recently moved in with Davis’s father and the 15-year-old brother. Brown recalls that the incident happened after a typical Sunday spent with the brothers.

The Lead Up to the Tragic Event

According to Brown, the fateful day started with the trio visiting the gym together, followed by a regular evening at home. It was during a heated argument over cleaning a room that the situation took a deadly turn. A physical altercation ensued, culminating in gunshots.

Johnston County investigators confirmed that the 15-year-old, whose identity has not been exposed due to his age, shot his 25-year-old brother at around 6:15 p.m.

Immediate Aftermath and Investigation

Brown tried to help Davis, who was critically injured from the gunshot. He quickly drove Davis to the nearest fire station from where EMS crews rushed him to WakeMed. Unfortunately, Davis did not survive the injuries.

In response to the incident, Johnston County sheriff’s deputies cordoned off the family’s home on South Pleasant Coates Road. The 15-year-old was subsequently charged with murder, on a juvenile petition. The house remained under surveillance late into the night.
