South Carolina Leads Women’s AP Top 25, Iowa & Colorado Follow

Women’s College Basketball Rankings Update

Iowa has climbed to the second position and Colorado to the third, following the top-ranked South Carolina in
The Associated Press Top 25 women’s college basketball poll. This comes after an unpredictable week that had half of the top 10 teams facing defeat.

The Gamecocks (15-0), who are the last undefeated team, outdid Missouri in their sole game last week and secured all 36 first-place votes from the national media panel. The poll was released hours before South Carolina hosted Kentucky.

Current Team Rankings

Ranking Shuffles & Major Upsets

Formerly undefeated teams UCLA and Baylor both faced losses, resulting in a drop in their rankings. The Bruins fell from second to fifth, and the Bears nosedived from fourth to 12th, after losing to both Kansas
and Iowa State. The Cyclones, on the other hand, entered the poll at No. 24.

Following a convincing
victory over then-No. 14 Indiana, Caitlin Clark led Iowa to the second position. Behind the Hawkeyes, Colorado and NC State secured their positions. The Buffaloes managed to achieve a 15-1 record for the first time since the ’92-’93 season.

By handing the Bruins their first season loss, USC ascended to the sixth position
in the ranking.

Approaching Coach K:

Stanford’s coach Tara VanDerveer is just one victory away from equalizing Duke men’s coach Mike Krzyzewski’s record for the most wins in college basketball history. After her team’s victory over Utah on Friday, VanDerveer sits at 1,201 victories, but unfortunately lost at Colorado on Sunday. She will have a chance to match the record this Friday when Stanford hosts Oregon
at home.

Surging Seminoles

Florida State made quite a statement last week with wins over ranked teams, pushing past then-No. 20 North Carolina and previously 11th-ranked Virginia Tech. This boosted them to 15th position from 21st.
