The Exciting World of College Basketball

Any fan knows that college basketball offers a wild ride leading up to March Madness. Last week, I noted that we were in for some surprises, with four new teams entering the top 25. However, the madness truly began when four of the top five teams fell to unranked teams in a mere 48-hour span, a first according to FOX Sports Research.

Road Losses and The Closing Gap

One major theme this week has been the number of road losses. With 16 ranked teams losing this week and top-10 teams holding a collective record of 9-10, it’s clear that conference play is an entirely different game. The transfer portal and NIL have created a nonstop offseason and some chaos, but they’ve also helped to close the gap between great, good, and average teams across the nation.

UConn Huskies: The Champions Stand Strong

UConn Huskies, the reigning national champions, stand as the one team in the top five that did not lose this week. Despite losing Donovan Clingan to injury, the Huskies have still managed a 4-0 record. This speaks volumes about coach Dan Hurley and the winning culture he’s built in Storrs.

The Top 25 Teams

Here’s a look at my current top 25 teams in college basketball:

  1. UConn (15-2)
  2. North Carolina (13-3)
  3. Purdue (15-2)
