ACC Volleyball Teams in 2023 NCAA Women’s Championship

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is sending five volleyball teams to the 2023 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship. The standouts include ACC Co-Champion Pitt, securing a No. 1 seed. They will be joined by Louisville (No. 2 seed), Georgia Tech (No. 5 seed), Florida State (No. 6 seed), and Miami.

ACC Teams in AVCA Top 25 Poll

This week’s AVCA Top 25 poll includes four ACC teams. Pitt is ranked No. 4, followed by Louisville (No. 7), Georgia Tech (No. 12), and Florida State (No. 22). Moreover, Clemson will participate in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) for the second year in a row.

NCAA Championship Schedule

The NCAA Championship starts on Thursday, Nov. 30, with Clemson facing Eastern Kentucky at 4 p.m. (ESPN+) and Georgia Tech playing against South Alabama at 4:30 p.m ET. Miami will compete with Northern Iowa at 6 p.m. ET, while Louisville will go up against Wright State at 7 p.m. ET. The tournament continues on Friday, Dec. 1, with Florida State taking on TCU at 5:30 p.m. ET and Pitt playing against Coppin State at 7 p.m. ET.

Highlights of ACC Volleyball

  • Florida State and Pitt are the 2023 ACC Co-Champions, marking the first championship for Florida State since 2012 and Pitt’s fifth championship in seven years.
  • Both Louisville and Pitt eye a rematch of their historic All-ACC match-up in the 2022 NCAA Semifinals after winning the 2022 ACC Co-Champions title, both recording 31 win seasons. They might face each other in this year’s Elite 8.
  • FSU’s Audrey Koenig and Louisville’s Anna DeBeer were voted ACC Co-Players of the Year by the league’s 15 head coaches.
  • Pitt’s Rachel Fairbanks was selected the Setter of the Year and the Panthers’ Olivia Babcock was voted as the Freshman of the year.
  • FSU’s Chris Poole earned Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career and for the first time since 2011.
  • The ACC leads the nation in aces, is second in assists, kills, and block assists, and is third in total attacks.
  • Pitt is second in nation in blocks per set and has the fifth-best opponent hitting percentage in the country.
  • Two ACC players are in the top-5 nationally for hitting percentage – Florida State’s Khori Louis (3rd) and Louisville’s Cara Cresse (5th).
  • Pitt’s Dan Fisher ranks second in career winning percentage of all active Division I coaches, followed by Louisville’s Dani Busboom Kelly ranking sixth.
  • Miami’s Savannah Vach owns the second-most career assists with 5,165 and ranks 10th nationally in assists per set with 10.52.
  • Georgia Tech’s Bianca Bertolino is fifth in the nation in aces per set with 0.59 and has the sixth-most service aces this season with 61.
  • Teams from ACC, namely Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Pitt, all broke attendance records this season.
