Grammy Triumph: UNCSA’s Mary-Mitchell Campbell Claims Best Musical Theater Album

Mary-Mitchell Campbell, UNC School of the Arts Alumna, Scores Grammy Win

Mary-Mitchell Campbell, an accomplished alumna of University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), added another feather to her cap by clinching a Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album.

UNCSA Alumna Triumphs in the Grammy

As part of the creative team behind the award-winning album, Campbell has made her alma mater, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, proud. Her outstanding work as a producer for “Some Like It Hot” landed her the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Campbell also worked as the musical supervisor for the production.

Accomplished UNCSA Alumni

Campbell was recognized by UNCSA with an honorary doctorate when she returned to the institution as a commencement speaker in 2019. Another notable UNCSA alumna, Joanna Gates, was nominated in the best choral category of the Grammys as part of The Crossing, a professional chamber choir. Gates was recognized for the album “Carols After a Plague,” conducted by Donald Nally. This is not her first recognition; Gates has previously bagged three Grammy awards with The Crossing in 2018, 2019, and 2023.
