North Carolina charms food lovers with six of its restaurants listed as the world’s “most outstanding” dining spots according to Forbes Travel Guide’s latest rankings.

Delighting the culinary scene in the Triangle, Charlotte, and the mountainous region, these top-ranking dining venues were all 2024 Star Awards winners:

The Forbes evaluators, who remain anonymous, determine the winners based on a set of rigorous standards that emphasize exceptional service. This process helps savvy travelers choose the best global experiences, according to a Forbes Travel Guide news release.

Scoring a Five-Star Rating

Within the best-of list’s restaurant category, only one North Carolina restaurant, Herons, situated in The Umstead Hotel and Spa, bagged the prestigious five-star rating. This recognition hails restaurants that provide incredible experiences and offer a highly personalized level of service.

The Forbes Ratings for Other Restaurants

The Fearrington House Restaurant and The Dining Room at Inn on Biltmore Estate each received a four-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide. Meanwhile, Gallery Restaurant, Fairview Dining Room, and Madison’s Restaurant and Wine Garden were listed as “recommended,” indicating their consistently excellent service and facilities.

Moreover, North Carolina also boasts eight hotels and one spa that secured positions in the rankings.

According to Forbes Travel Guide, over 2,000 travel destinations worldwide made it onto its list, with 258 of them being restaurants.
