Man claims his house has been dubbed the best in Pennsylvania by visitors

Discover the Best House in Pennsylvania: A Spectacular Light Show That Captures the Christmas Spirit

Every year brings an exciting anticipation as we prepare to unveil our beloved tradition – a spectacular Christmas light display that has often been dubbed as the ‘best house in Pennsylvania’ for its festive charm. This tradition, which began more than three decades ago in Dover, has grown immensely over the years, attracting about 1,000 to 1,200 visitors annually.

A Family Tradition Turned Community Event

Our journey started simply, when my wife and I got married 15 years ago. We expanded our light display over the years, and about 10 years ago, we evolved it into a backyard extravaganza. Today, this display isn’t just a family tradition, it’s a community event, with visitors dropping off donations for the Catholic Harvest and Borough Animal Rescue (BARk).

A Labor of Love: 150 Hours of Preparation

The preparation for this festive display takes quite some time – around 150 hours. The work is divided between my wife and myself. Even my birthday weekend in November is dedicated to setting up the lights. But the joy we derive from seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and the enjoyment it brings to others, makes every minute worth it.

Rekindling the Christmas Spirit

It’s an unforgettable sight when you see families gathering, children laughing, and everyone soaking in the Christmas spirit. We’ve had numerous visitors express that our light display has rekindled their Christmas spirit. That’s perhaps the biggest reward we could ask for – to see people truly enjoy our efforts, and know that we played a part in brightening their holiday season.

25 Nights of Lights: Revisit the ‘Best House in Pennsylvania’

Join our annual light show at 1606 Orange Street in West York, part of our ’25 Nights of Lights’ series showcasing the best Christmas displays in the Susquehanna Valley. Experience how Tim Miller and his wife transform their home into a festive wonder that visitors affirm as the best in Pennsylvania. Come by, enjoy the lights, and feel free to drop off donations for Catholic Harvest and BARk, as we celebrate the spirit of giving alongside the joy of Christmas.
