The Search for the Tastiest Hoagie in Pennsylvania

While Philadelphia is renowned for its hoagies, hidden gems serving up this culinary delight are scattered throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. Among these, Chester County is home to two noteworthy contenders, as per Jen O’Mara’s piece in The Keystone News.

Competing for the crown of the region’s tastiest hoagie, Phoenixville and West Chester each have a hoagie shop listed amongst Pennsylvania’s top eight.

Spotlight on Phoenixville’s Bob’s Haven Deli

Famed Bob’s Haven Deli in Phoenixville caters to hoagie lovers with a unique spin on the traditional hoagie, known as a “zep.” With a legacy spanning over six decades, their approach to sandwiches is refreshingly straightforward.

The zep is distinguished by its long roll, a single meat selection, a choice of cheese, and the addition of onion and tomato, all seasoned with salt, pepper, and oregano.

West Chester’s Lorenzo’s Steaks on the East Side

Lorenzo’s Steaks in West Chester sticks to traditional hoagies while also offering an array of other satisfying meals including breakfast items, wings, and cheesesteaks.
