Sam Haskell Jr., currently facing murder charges, had previously expressed disdain for the depiction of dismembered bodies in a horror film, as shown in an Instagram DM conversation with ex-personal trainer, Troy Piedade.

The conversation centered around “The Forever Purge”, a film that Haskell Jr. claimed made him queasy due to its graphic violence.

Haskell Jr.’s former trainer, Troy, sensed something was off about him during their training sessions at Bally’s in Encino in 2009. Troy felt that Haskell Jr. often instigated trouble at the gym, counting on Troy to step in and defend him.

Despite his odd behavior, Troy never suspected Haskell Jr. of criminal activity. However, authorities in L.A. County have since accused Haskell Jr. of murder. Over Instagram, Haskell Jr. and Troy frequently discussed horror films and fitness, including their conversation about “The Forever Purge”.

On Monday, L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón announced that Haskell Jr. was charged with three counts of murder in the deaths of his 37-year-old wife, Mei, and her parents, Gaoshan Li and Yanxiang Wang.

This revelation came after video footage appeared to show Haskell Jr. disposing of what might have been a body in a dumpster. A homeless individual discovered a human torso in the same dumpster the following day.

Additional footage showed Haskell Jr. exchanging bags that, as per day laborers’ claims, contained human remains. The police seemingly took these claims seriously.

If convicted, Haskell Jr. could spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
