Matthew Perry Axed Plan for Chandler to Cheat on Monica in ‘Friends’

Matthew Perry’s Character Almost Had a Scandal in “Friends”
Matthew Perry‘s character in “Friends,” Chandler Bing, nearly faced a scandal by cheating on Monica. Yet, the actor managed to scrap the entire plotline.
We conversed with Lisa Cash, an extra in the 1999 episode “The One in Vegas: Part 1”. She revealed that her role would have been a lot more controversial had Matthew not intervened.
According to Lisa, the original scene involved Monica, played by Courteney Cox, in a fierce argument with Chandler. Lisa’s character, a hotel staff, delivered room service to his hotel room in Vegas. Chandler and Lisa’s character developed a relationship post their fight, leading to him cheating on Monica.
But, as per Lisa, Matthew believed that fans would never forgive such a move from Chandler. He thus requested the writers to eliminate the plot after rehearsing the scene.
Although a co-starring role with Matthew Perry could have boosted Lisa’s career, she agrees that axing the scandal was a wise decision that potentially saved the course of the show.
Even though the plot got nixed, Lisa remained in the episode as a flight attendant in Ross and Rachel’s scene.
Since Matthew’s unfortunate demise last weekend, many have showered love and kind words for the actor, sentiments which Lisa echoes.
