Lisa Marie Presley Criticizes Movie About Parents Before Unexpected Death

Lisa Marie Presley urged Sofia Coppola to reconsider a film about her parents prior to her untimely death, calling it a hit piece.

Presley, Elvis Presley‘s late daughter, emailed the director about halting the film four months before her cardiac arrest.

Variety, which obtained the emails, reported that Lisa called Coppola’s script “shockingly vengeful” and criticized the portrayal of Elvis. She wrote, “As his daughter, I don’t see my father in this character.”

Presley threatened to publicly condemn the film, while Coppola replied, “I hope that when you see the final film you will feel differently”.

The film is toned down from the source material, Priscilla Presley‘s ‘Elvis and Me’, which contains more scandalous stories about Elvis courting a very young Priscilla.

Elvis’ estate had also previously criticized the film, while Priscilla was in favor of it from the beginning.

Coppola continued with the project despite Lisa’s objections, and ‘Priscilla’ is set to hit theaters this weekend. The film has received positive reviews to date.
