Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Arrested for Assault Rifle Possession

  • Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., a former boxing champion, was arrested in Los Angeles for illegal possession of an assault rifle. The police were called by a concerned fan who feared Chavez Jr. might be a danger to himself or others.
  • The police located the illegal weapon, described as an untraceable “ghost gun,” in Chavez Jr.’s residence after he allowed them to enter. Chavez Jr. was then transported to the Valley Jail in Van Nuys.
  • Chavez Jr., son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., has had previous concerns about his safety. He ended his boxing career with a 53-6-1 record and last fought in December 2021, when he defeated David Zegarra.
