Church of Satan Praises Lil Nas X for ‘J Christ’ Video

  • Lil Nas X’s music video for his song “J Christ”, in which he portrays biblical figures and references religious themes, has been met with both criticism and praise. Some Christian rappers and groups have expressed disdain, while the Church of Satan has endorsed the video, praising its imagery.
  • The Church of Satan, as explained by its magister David Harris, does not actually worship Satan but promotes principles of being true to oneself, achieving personal goals, and living life to the fullest. They value the power to manipulate people into doing what you want, a trait they see in Lil Nas X’s ability to create viral content.
  • Although Lil Nas X has stated that he’s “divorced” from the devil, the Church of Satan still appears to support him and his work. Harris has not only praised the “J Christ” video but also previous works like “Montero”, which also depicted Satan. His only critique is a desire for Lil Nas X to direct a feature-length film due to his perceived talent.

Lil Nas X’s‘s “J Christ” music video has received the support of one church, despite causing a stir among Christians and Catholics.

The controversial rapper released the music video sending shockwaves through the religious world. The video features LNX as Noah and Christ on the cross, and he even takes on the devil in a full-on basketball game.

The lyrics of the song further accentuate its religious theme with lines like “Back up out the gravesite/Bitch I’m back like J Christ”. While some Christian rappers have expressed disgust, the Church of Satan gives it a thumbs up. Magister David Harris tells TMZ the video’s imagery was “fantastic”.

Harris notes Lil Nas X’s ability to go viral, equating it to his church’s belief in “lesser magic” – the ability to manipulate people, lining Nas’s pockets with cash. The Church of Satan, which doesn’t worship Satan but advocates self-actualization and living life to the fullest, doesn’t react to devil depictions with anger.

Harris has previously approved Nas X’s “Montero” video despite its controversial depiction of Satan. He has a minor criticism for Nas X – wishing the rapper to direct a feature-length film due to his talent.

Even though Lil Nas X has divorced from the devil, it doesn’t seem like the Church of Satan is planning to let him go anytime soon.
