According to a Colorado based chiropractor, Dr Daniel Nye, you can reverse a hunched posture with just a 10-minute exercise. This exercise can be beneficial as poor posture is a problem that affects one in ten Americans.

To improve your posture, Dr Nye suggests lying on your back with your feet propped up on a chair. He demonstrated this exercise in a TikTok video, which has gained over 44.6 million views since 2021.

In the video, Dr Nye recommends rolling up a towel and placing it behind your head while spreading your hands on the floor. He advises his 183,000 followers to perform this posture-correcting exercise for 10 minutes every day.

Understanding the Consequences of Poor Posture

A study by the American Chiropractic Association found that one in ten Americans suffer from poor posture. Certain activities like sitting at a desk all day, constantly looking down at a cell phone, or lounging on the sofa can contribute to this problem.

Chronic slouching can lead to back and neck pain, as well as other health conditions. For instance, poor posture can increase the chances of stress incontinence, a condition where you leak a bit of urine when you cough or sneeze. This happens because slouching increases pressure in the abdomen, putting stress on the bladder and weakening pelvic floor muscles over time.
